York Street Friday Nights

Nevada City’s City Council just voted to allow us to close York Street to all wheeled traffic on Friday nights from Jul 6 -September 15th. This means we can put our chairs and tables out on the street and families and friends can be seated to enjoy a sense of community while eating their ice cream, cookies or Treatsicles.

Remember your Dad on Father’s Day
I post this image every year near Father’s Day. This is my Dad. He dearly loved his ice cream. Here he is sitting a buffet table eating ice cream from the large serving bowls with a look of absolute impish joy on his face. He would have loved TREATS and perhaps a TREATS gift certificate would have been the perfect Father’s Day gift for him.

First Strawberries of the Season

Last week I went out to Riverhill Farm and picked some fantastic strawberries. I drove home surrounded by the luscious smell of the ripe fruit and it was hard not to eat them before I got home and could turn them into Strawberry Treatsicles (our version of the popsicle). The frozen farm fresh taste is a wonderful way to enjoy a TREAT and beat the heat.

Cool Coffee TREATS

We have three ways for you to enjoy coffee during the warm weather. An Iced Vivoom is a coffee drink made with a shot of our Vivace espresso, a scoop of coffee ice cream, milk and ice blended to perfection. An Affogato is a shot of espresso loving poured over a scoop of ice cream. A Vietnamese Coffee TREATSICLE is a frozen popsicle made with espresso and sweetened condensed milk.

TREATS is very happy to announce a new product the TREATSICLE.

We will be producing our own brand of popsicles made with local, seasonal fruits and veggies. We’ll start off slowly with spring strawberries, rhubarb, citrus and sweet potato some infused with herbs and spices for extra flavor. We’ll also carry TREATSICLES made with espresso, coconut, tea, chocolate, bananas and yogurt. As the seasons progress we look forward to creating our frozen treats with peaches, berries, watermelons, cucumbers, apples and pumpkins.

We’ll try to use little or no sugar whenever possible and instead of plastic we’ll wrap our products in paper.

The TREATSICLES will be available beginning April 1st at our shop located at 110 York Street in Nevada City CA and at our local farmers markets beginning in June.

ICE CREAM COLLEGE

Bob is off to Ice Cream College. Penn State College of Agriculture Sciences offers the program that will instruct him in the nuances of the art of making superior ice cream. Former course participants include Ben and Jerry and representatives from Haagen-Dazs and Schrafts among many others. His new knowledge will make TREATS artisan ice creams even better. Stay tuned.
